Using a birthing ball during pregnancy can help strengthen your spinal muscles, making them less vunerable to the back pain that many women suffer during the later stages of their pregnancy.

During labour itself, a birthing ball can come into its own, not only because it is a much easier place to sit, relax and move than on a bed, but the natural squatting position on the ball has been shown to speed up the labouring process - and who is going to say no to that!
Gentle movement on the ball is a good way to relieve your contraction pains and you are in a better position to be given a relaxing massage by your birthing partner.

The Ledragomma Maxafe Birthing Ball is made from the new flexton anti-burst material - an essential requirement for use during pregnancy, and it also has an anti-slip surface. This may not be the least expensive birthing ball on the market, it is probably the best.
